Cadillac is moving ahead full-force with revamping their lineup to become the most competitive it’s ever been since their prime days of making big-bodied luxury sedans, coupes and convertibles before 1973.
Further exemplifying this is the rumor that Cadillac could be introducing a new convertible, which was reportedly shown at some dealer meetings in sketches.
It’s unclear what exactly this new convertible could be, but speculation points to the use of the ATS and CTS’s current Alpha platform. While this could be a good indicator of what could be in the near future, it should be noted the that the Alpha platform is very versatile and is providing a backbone for nearly every rear-wheel drive sedan in Cadillac’s lineup. So the convertible could be any size at this time.
Cadillac is adamant about introducing a new convertible, after AutomotiveNews spoke to an unnamed representative. For reference, the last convertible Cadillac ever made was the ill-fated XLR.
