OFFICIAL: Mazda CX-3 to debut at Los Angeles [UPDATED]

Motoring.com in Australia is back for some rumor time and pitches the possibility that Mazda’s new rumored subcompact crossover could show up at the Los Angeles Auto Show next month.

It would be called the CX-3 and judging by the succeeding number, it’s smaller than the CX-5 and the CX-9. It would be Mazda’s first subcompact crossover ever and is likely being built as a response to Honda’s new HRV subcompact crossover–basically the new CR-V mini-me.

Engine wise, the new CX-3 is expected to sport the same engines as the new Mazda2, which involves a range of 1.5L SKYACTIV-G gas and SKYACTIV-D diesel four-pots.

Next to the revealing of the CX-3 is an updated CX-5.

UPDATE: Mazda officially confirmed the arrival and world premiere of the all-new CX-3 crossover at Los Angeles. Check out the press release after the jump.
