Report: Don’t expect too much of a difference with next Mercedes-Benz G-Class

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class has a massive cult following and continues to this day to be a popular item. Mercedes once attempted to replace the G-Class but there was such an uproar from customers, they decided to continue making the current one instead.

Now, it seems the Gelandewagen is set to undergo a major overhaul, but Daimler AG’s head, Dieter Zetsche, told Bloomberg the new G-Class won’t be changing too much visually. It will maintain its brutish off-road appearance, which makes it so unique.

“It has to continue as it looks today,” Zetsche said to Bloomberg. “It’s not a vehicle that pretends. The G-Class is the original.”

Mercedes-Benz is beginning to face some major competition as the Gelandewagen continues to parade in the luxury off-roader segment with the likes of the Range Rover, and soon to be Bentley’s new crossover.
