Report: The next-gen Audi A8 to be offered as a fully autonomous vehicle

Audi is serious about its goal to be one of the leading pioneers to the fully autonomous vehicle. And now, Australia’s Motoring.com heard the next-generation A8 could be offered as a fully autonomous vehicle. Bolstering this claim is the fact that Audi did announce to be offering some autonomous systems on the next-gen A8.

Motoring spoke with Audi’s head of product and technology communications, Stefan Moser, who said Audi is dead-set on the goal of being ones to introduce the world’s first self-driving car.

Additionally, Audi even showcased a bit of their technology recently after demonstrating a fully-autonomous lap of Hockenheim with an RS7. The production version of this technology should debut in the new A8, which means the requirement to fit a range of sensors and cameras all throughout the car.

The next-gen A8 is expected to surface at the end of 2016 as a 2017 model and should be teased with a new concept at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show.
