Report: The next-gen 2016 BMW 7-Series to feature new six-cyl engines

The next-generation BMW 7-Series often tends to set standards for Munich’s own and this latest development further supports this notion.

According to CARandDRIVER, the next-generation 2016 BMW 7er will launch the Roundel’s new selection of modular inline-six engines. BMW announced a little more than two years ago to be designing a new inline-six with “modular architecture” to cut costs and to make them widely available for their entire lineup in various forms. CARandDRIVER wasn’t able to source any specifics, though this new line of mills should replace BMW’s current line of both diesel and gas inline-sixers.

On a slightly separate note, BMW’s tweaking and reengineering their current four-banger to be mated with a hybrid-setup. Again, specifics are sparse, but the projected output of the entire system should be around 300bhp.
