Report: The 2016 Acura NSX once again seeks to be a budget Ferrari

The Acura NSX is almost here, after what seems to be an eternity of teasers and concepts. It may seem like old news, but the NSX is still on its way and recently, WhatCar spoke to Ted Klaus, the NSX’s chief of development.

In the interview, Klaus explained the NSX once again is built on the concept of being an affordable alternative, at least, in relative to the following, to the Ferrari 458 Italia, the Audi R8 and some others in its class. As an example, the Acura NSX is going to need to be able to be at least on par with the 458 Italia’s 0-60 time of 3.5 seconds.

This mission is the same as the original NSX’s purpose. Back when the first generation was introduced, it was pitched as an exclusive alternative to the mid-engined Ferraris of equal time. Though for the second generation, the NSX should sport a price similar to the Audi R8, at $130,000. Production is will be very limited to keep demand high and the NSX rare.

With this latest report, the 2016 Acura NSX is scheduled to launch in the US sometime next year.
