Report: Hyundai could be attempting a Toyota Prius competitor

Hybrids are still quite the hot topic, especially after Toyota proved to the world that they could attribute the buy-words, affordable, economical, and reliable. And it seems every competitor to the Japanese auto empire, even in the belt of luxury that includes Lexus. That said, Hyundai is looking to jump into the action with their own affordable hybrid.

AutoGuide received the tip after some of their spy photographers spotted some hybrids being tested in various body forms. This could mean Hyundai could be matching the Prius move-for-move with, for example, an MPV version to combat the Prius v, while a standard five-door model goes head-to-head with the normal Prius.

Those same photographers spotted a lot of telemetry, with some showing an obviously exposed battery pack under the seat.

While these photos suggest the hybrids, there’s not much on the official Hyundai side as of yet, rumors aside. But then again, it wouldn’t be reasonable for Hyundai to invest in affordable hybrids.
