Video: Drag race version BMW X5 M50d vs. Range Rover Sport–who will win?

The BMW X5 M50d is one of those models that we wish we got here in the states–what’s not cool about a super-luxo crossover with a potent diesel that returns a commendable 35.1 mpg? But the BMW X5 isn’t alone in its game as there exists the Range Rover Sport.

And in this latest video, the BMW X5 M50d is pitted against the Range Rover Sport in Cape Town, South Africa, for a classic drag race. Both zoom past 62 in just 5.3 seconds, though the X5 is powered by BMW’s lovely 3.0L tri-turbo diesel inline six with around 375hp and a whopping 546 lb-ft of torque while the Range Rover Sport gets the monster Jaguar-sourced supercharged 5.0L V8 with 503bhp.
