Recalls: Mercedes-Benz adds 2014 SLK- and SL-Class to Takata airbag recall

Mercedes-Benz filed a recall notice with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for 2014 SLK- and SL-Class models over concerns with the recent Takata recall for faulty airbag inflators.

Around 300 models are affected with 200 already owned by their respective customers. The issue revolves around problems with improperly installed fasteners, supplied by one of Takata’s subcontractors. The improper fasteners could then inhibit the function of the airbags as intended, increasing the risk of injury in the affected models.

No incidents or injuries have been reported however.
