Report: Bentley plans to stick with its VW-sourced W12

CARandDRIVER recently learned that Bentley has no desire to depart with its Volkswagen-sourced W12 engine, currently serving duty in the Continental GT and Flying Spur.

Despite the crackdown on environmentalism, leading to the downsizing of engines, Bentley seeks to remain loyal to its use of the W12, meaning Bentley might end up being one of the last manufacturers (or Volkswagen) of 12-cylinder engines in the world.

While the W12 is the work of Volkswagen’s powertrain department, Bentley is said to be leading the future development of the engine. That could lead to the switch from port fuel injection to direct injection.
