Report: Chevrolet working on a Ford F150 Raptor competitor based on Colorado

GMAuthority reports that Chevrolet is looking to dip its toes into the performance pickup waters with a competitor to the F150 Raptor, though it is said to be based off of the new and incoming Colorado.

This makes a little bit more sense considering the Colorado is a midsize pickup, which is smaller and thus, weighs less–and less weight provides many performance advantages.

After speaking with “sources,” Chevrolet is described to be developing a more “aggressive off-road variant” to the new Colorado. Though as usual, specifics are in the unknown.

Should it reign to be true, speculation points to a launch sometime in 2015 or 2016 with a name along the lines of Colorado ZR2. A 3.6L V6 with 305hp and 269 lb-ft of torque is expected.
