Report: Next Audi R8 to receive TDI version in 2017
Word in the pipeline via Automobile Magazine is that Audi is preparing a diesel version of its luxury mid-engine sports car, the R8.
According to the report, the new R8 TDI is set to debut in 2017, sporting a 4.0L turbodiesel V8 or a 5.0L turbodiesel V10, which is also being developed for Bentley. Otherwise, specifications are still in the unknown.
Either way, the magazine also reports that the new R8 will sport some new gas engines as well: a 4.0L V8 with two turbos, good for 460hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. A 5.2L V10 gas model is also expected to continue on with 540hp and 398 lb-ft of torque, with help from the Lamborghini Huracan, including a V10 Plus model with at least 600hp.
