Report: The 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV will be different for US

Mitsubishi has been remaining fairly quiet on the new car front with many of us wondering if they’re going to even last that much longer stateside.

In a recent report from AutoBlog, word is that Mitsubishi is still working on an Outlander Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle and as of now, the small Japanese automaker is trying to figure out how they’re going to execute the new model.

According to the the current Outlander won’t be the basis for the PHEV model with the brand’s executives saying that it will be completely different with a major restyle in 2016. Whatever the brand might be planning, Mitsubishi is treading on thin-ice particularly since everything they offer seems to blend in way too much without offering anything truly remarkable within their lineup, especially with the departure of the Lancer Evolution.

That said, they need to make sure they get their act together in the near-future in order to stay relevant here in the states.
