The new model will utilize a completely new 2.0L BMW-sourced turbo-four, which is an upgrade from the last model’s 1.6L 214hp turbo four. That 2.0L unit is the same one found in the current Cooper S and is BMW’s B48 four-banger, where it develops 189hp and 206 lb-ft of torque in the Cooper S.
Additionally, the Mini Cooper JCW will come with a six-speed manual or automatic, both sourced from the Cooper S. A debut at next year’s 2015 North American International Auto Show is expected in Detroit.
