Report: Next generation Jeep Wrangler to be lighter and livelier

Edmunds recently heard from Jeep’s head, Mike Manley, who said the next generation Wrangler is set to arrive as a 2018 model year with a series of serious changes.

According to the report, the new 2018 Jeep Wrangler will get its own proprietary platform, unlike other Jeeps, like the Cherokee, which is based off of a Fiat. Manley also promised that “there will be no compromises,” in an interest to keep fans and enthusiasts in mind.

There will be significant weight reductions however, including the use of an aluminum body. This in turn will improve fuel economy in order to meet the latest CAFE requirements. Or…they could also just serve up the Wrangler with a diesel engine that everyone’s been clamoring for…
