Report: McLaren working on a “groundbreaking” 2+2 coupe

Automobile Magazine recently heard that McLaren could be expanding its lineup with a new 2+2 sports car.

In addition to the MP4-12C-succeding 650S, McLaren plans to add a P13 entry-level coupe and a more powerful and track-focused version of the 650S called the GTS model. Later on, a convertible version of said P13 as well as an F1 successor, called the P1 GTR, are also in the rumormill. Following that, plans for a 650S-replacing P16 is also expected with semi-active suspension, a torque-vectoring system, and more eco-friendly tech.

As for the 2+2, that’s not expected to surface until 2020 and as usual, details are sparse–but we can at least see this larger model with a front-mid-engined layout.
