Report: Rolls-Royce crossover SUV due in late 2017

AutoCar in the UK reports that Rolls-Royce is actually jumping on the ultra-luxurious SUV crossover bandwagon in the wake of Bentley’s project to do the same.

Originally, Rolls-Royce wasn’t sure if they wanted to dip their toes in a market that’s out of tradition with the brand. But it seems that this changed altogether. After speaking with the company’s boss, Giles Taylor, word is that the model is progressing in its research and development phase. It will feature a functional body with a slick-back roofline a la “shooting brake” style. It won’t be of the full-size type, but rather similar to the Mercedes-Benz GLK, with a starting price somewhere around 200,000 GBP.

Also due in Rolls-Royce’s future eventually is a completely new Phantom for 2017 and an all-new Ghost in 2018.
