Report: BMW X4 M on the way for 2017, to use BMW M2 engine

Australia’sย Drive.com reports that BMW M boss Dr. Friedrich Nitschke tipped that the BMW X4 M is on the way, but still a few years off.

According to the report, the brand is currently focusing on the development of the X5 M and X6 M, with the X4 M following shortly after, due to limited engineering resources. The X4 M will be the sportiest and most high-performance version of the X4. Though Nitschke also apparently said the X4 M won’t happen in this model cycle.

Additionally, the outlet learned that an updated X4 will come sometime in 2017, equating to a mid-cycle refresh. Otherwise, the supposed X4 M will utilize the same 3.0L TwinPower Turbo inline-six destined for the M2, good for around 375hp.
