Report: Subaru WRX hatchback downplayed again, despite previous reports

In a sort of automotive news tug-o-war, there seems to be conflicting reports now, surrounding the emergence of a Subaru WRX five-door hatchback. When the WRX was first revealed, Subaru didn’t say that a hatchback was on the way. Following that, a report from Australia’s Motoring.com said that Subaru was thinking about it

But a new update is apparently in from MotorTrend, who spoke to Subaru USA directly after reaching out about the issue. Subaru USA themselves said that a WRX hatchback is not planned, despite statements from Subaru’s project manager, Masuo Takatsu.

So in the bin it goes again, until someone else can dig something up to call their bluff. We don’t think this is going to bode well for the Fuji Heavy Industries-owned automaker, but what do you readers think? Talk amongst yourselves in the comments below.
