Report: Porsche unveils new turbocharged four-cylinder for base Macan elsewhere

A new report is in that says Porsche has just introduced their own 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder for the basic Macan.

It’s the first turbocharged inline-four since the beloved 968 of the 1990s. While the 968’s four was a massive 3.0L unit, the Macan’s engine is goes for a much smaller 2.0L displacement, but is still good for 237hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Mated to Porsche’s PDK-ness, the base Macan will sprint to 62mph in just 6.9 seconds while returning a combined fuel economy cycle of 31.3 mpg US.

This four-cylinder Macan won’t be sold here in the US, but that can always change if the brand sees differently in the future. As of now, the Macan here in the US will instead get more diesel attention.
