Volkswagen confirms Jetta facelift for 2015, due at New York

Amid a press release sharing Volkswagen’s recent successes and near-future plans for internal strategy, Volkswagen also confirmed to be bringing a facelifted Jetta to the 2014 New York International Auto Show. It would be sold as a 2015 model year car.

No specifics were shared, but Volkswagen described to updated Jetta to offer a “refreshed exterior, improved fuel economy and a host of new safety and technology features.”

Engine options will most likely remain the same, featuring a selection of 2.0L turbo gas and diesel four-cylinder engines. The current Jetta has been with us since 2011.

VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA REPORTS MARCH 2014 SALES

  • March sales total 36,717 units
  • Jetta Sedan delivered 13,687 units for the month, up 6.3 percent vs the prior year
  • Passat delivered 11,050 units for the month, marking the best March for the vehicle
  • Tiguan delivered 2,315 units for the month
  • High-mileage, TDI® Clean Diesel models accounted for 26.6 percent of sales, the best March on record
  • Passat TDI sales were 4,549, representing 41.2 percent of sales of the vehicle marking the best March and best year-to-date ever.

Herndon, VA (April 1, 2014) — Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) today reported 36,717 units delivered in March.

“We continue to see steady demand for our TDI Clean Diesels as well as our core vehicles,” said Mark McNabb, chief operating officer, Volkswagen of America. “With the Spring selling season upon us, we expect to see more stability ahead as we lay the groundwork for the launch of the all-new Golf coming later this summer.”

Total Jetta deliveries (including SportWagen) for March accounted for 15,692 units. Volkswagen will debut the 2015 Model Year Jetta at the New York International Auto Show in April. The new Jetta will feature a refreshed exterior, improved fuel economy and a host of new safety and technology features.

The Chattanooga-built Passat deliveries totaled 11,050 units delivered for the month. In March the Passat TDI, the only clean diesel in the midsize sedan segment, delivered 4,549 clean diesels. This marks the best March ever for both Passat and Passat TDI® Clean Diesel.

As Volkswagen prepares for the launch of the all-new family of Golf vehicles, sales of the current generation were 1,989 units. The much anticipated, all-new 2015 model will go on sale later this summer.

The benefits of clean diesel vehicles continue to resonate with consumers as Volkswagen delivered 9,764 units. The company confirmed that the newest, most fuel-efficient, TDI® Clean Diesel engine, designated EA288 will power the 2015 Golf, Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Passat, and Jetta, all of which are set to arrive in dealer showrooms in the second half of 2014.
