Report: Hyundai CEO hints at BMW 3-Series rival, could be five years away

Edmunds recently spoke with Hyundai Motor America’s CEO, Dave Zuchowski, who apparently hinted at Hyundai’s dire interest in producing a BMW 3-Series rival.

Zuchowski added that the new 2015 Genesis’ starting price of $38,000 leaves room for Hyundai to expand even more. Rumors have indicated in the past that Hyundai is interested in producing a rear-wheel drive competitor for one of the most difficult segments to impress–the compact luxury sports sedan segment.

Such competition also includes the Audi A4, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and the Lexus IS. Though aside from actually confirming it’s on the way, Zuchowski did share that such a model is at least four or five years away.
