Report: New Mazda MX-5 due at the New York Auto Show

Now a quarter of a century old, Mazda’s Miata or MX-5 will be teased at this year’s New York International Auto Show. Likely to be powered with a 1.5 liter SKYACTIV-G naturally aspirated four cylinder engine, Mazda will keep the weight in around 2,200 lbs, as has been the case since 1989 and the car will retain its front engine rear wheel drive layout.

As usual, there are rumors of a more sharp and severe version that will come available, in this case with a two liter engine, but don’t hold out any hopes, Mazda has historically denied markets of anything other than one flavor of MX-5. Stay tuned for our coverage of the New York International Auto Show coming up in mid-April.
