Tobias Moers, CEO of AMG recently related that the company has not run out of ideas when it comes to making their V8 engines even more efficient. Likely to show up at this year’s Paris Motor Show, or some time in the future nearby, Mercedes’ RWD GT car will likely be aimed squarely at the likes of the Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-Type. The price for all of this solidity, prestige and power may head slightly north or south of 100,000 euros over in Europe (that’s about $140,000).
When the car is sold over here though, it would be fairly surprising to see the base model cost that much, though a chunk of the added European cost is from taxes. Given that the 911 starts at around $84,000, the Merc could be a bit more, given its standard level of equipment, principally in the engine room. Moers confirmed that there will be a super quick Black series version of the AMG GT. At the moment, it looks like the Germans could be slotting the 4 liter turbocharged V8 from their existing stable under the hood, which is good for 485 horsepower in the standard model and likely 550 horsepower in the S variant.
