Report: 2016 Chevrolet Volt due next year with new evolutionary styling

Edmunds reports that a new Chevrolet Volt is due next year as a 2016 model, sporting some evolutionary styling changes.

Rather than reinventing the wheel, Chevrolet wants to maintain the recognition of the Volt with source saying that it will be “different, but not drastically different.”

The new Volt will ride on a new front-wheel drive platform with “significantly” improved electric-only range, confirmed by former GM CEO, Dan Akerson. The new Volt is also expected to be cheaper and lighter than the current model.
