Report: Multiple Alfa Romeo 4C variants on the horizon

Bound for this year’s New York International Auto Show, the already fast Alfa Romeo 4C sports car may not just get slight changes every year. As indicated by Alberto Cavaggioni, Alfa’s head of marketing, Alfa Romeo’s engineers and designers may be sharpening their pencils a bit. Though it is not for certain, Cavaggioni had this to say regarding a faster, hard core RS variant of the 4C: “I cannot tell you too much at the moment, but we’re working very hard to make sure the DNA of the brand will continue. We know many people and customers are asking for this kind of thing, and we look into them so we’ll see.”

Alfa has gotten excellent reception in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for the small and shockingly fast sports car with over 1,700 orders made to date. Cavaggioni indicated that in addition to the upcoming US introduction, the car would be offered in other markets around the globe. Though the fixed-head coupe is coming to the United States first this year (with a run of only 1,000), the soft top version will be soon to follow, likely in 2015. The chassis itself should be around for at least 4-5 years.
