Report: 200 mph Bentley SUV on the way

Though it’s difficult whether to know to laugh or cry at Bentley’s foray into the SUV market, it would definitely be a shame to see Bentley beat Lamborghini to the 200 mph mark, though according to a new report, that is exactly what Bentley is doing. Lamborghini put out the wild, 7mpg, 126mph, LM002 in the 80s with the beating, V12 heart of a Countach, but has gone somewhat quiet about their plans for the Urus, or whatever they are interested in calling their possible SUV. Bentley, on the other hand, has sharpened up the underbody aerodynamics on their car and has trimmed up the roofline to accomplish the rather ambitious feat.

Aren’t there SUVs out there that do this already? Not on the large scale production level that Bentley intends to achieve. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S is only capable of 175 mph, which means that even one of Bentley’s slower models, their flagship Mulsanne could technically pass it at its top speed of 185 mph. The aerodynamics with likely be quite prolific, but the power pushing the large, rounded brick through the air will likely be prodigious. No details have been offered, but this could be the start of a pretty powerful hybrid introduction to the Bentley lineup, or, perhaps more likely, one of their turbocharged W12s.
