Report: Ferrari could be planning a special LaFerrari-based model

Someone deep within Ferrari’s staff has apparently told AutoCar of the UK that the Prancing Horse of Italy could be in the works with a LaFerrari-based spinoff model.

At the presentation for the LaFerrari at the 2014 Geneva Auto Show, Ferrari’s chairman, Luca di Montezemolo, supposedly disclosed plans of a special model. This is due to high response from “many customers” who were unable to acquire a LaFerrari through the brand’s exclusive “ownership with history” channels for purchasing limited edition cars.

Speculation says that the new model will be more affordable and “down to earth” with greater availability. In comparison, the LaFerrari is limited to 499 units, all of which have been accounted for. It is also the most expensive new Ferrari ever at $1.4 million each.
