Report: Toyota files for Supra trademark
TheMotorReport supposedly learned that Toyota filed for a name trademark, signing in the name “Supra,” which raises hopes for a revival for one of Toyota’s most famous sports coupes. The rumor has been floating around ever since Toyota and BMW signed agreements to work together on a variety of projects. The most recent result was showcased with the Toyota FT-1 Concept from the Detroit Auto Show this year.
The trademark was filed at the US Patent and Trademark Office last week. Though, trademarks have been known to make for some wild-goose chases as most trademarks are filed out of preservation and safety. Many of the times, the models don’t end up being produced. However, the case with the Supra and the FT-1 Concept may be a different story. Toyota has been focusing on revitalizing their image, the GT 86 is surefooted proof of this.
With the new FT-1 Concept, it’s even more proof that Toyota may be getting their sports car mojo back. Either way, things are getting really exciting. Let’s hope everything follows through.
