Report: Porsche Macan GTS could be in the works as brand seeks to meet sales goals
AutomotiveNews in Europe reports that Porsche’s CEO Mattias Mueller has hinted at a potential high-performance GTS variant to the new Macan crossover as Porsche seeks to hit 200,000 sales per year.
Word came from Mueller during a presentation celebrating the beginning of the Porsche Macan’s production, where he said that GTS versions have been “a tradition at Porsche.” Though no final decision on a GTS variant for the Macan has been confirmed, but Mueller said “it makes a lot of sense.”
Specifics weren’t shared, though the Macan GTS should sit between the base model and the top-of-the-line Macan Turbo, which is the case with the Porsche Cayenne. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S is the range topper while the Cayenne GTS sits directly below the Turbo models in that spectrum.
