Report: Audi S1 hatch packs a 2 liter turbo four, starts at over $41,000
For something that starts off as a humble economy car, the Audi S1 does a damn good job of cleaning up. While it isn’t the bonkers $70,000 A1 quattro of which Audi only made 333, it does seem to have a significantly upgraded interior over the standard car, 228 bhp in a small, lightweight car, and lots of angry aesthetic and/or aerodynamic add-ons.
No, we are not getting this one in the ‘States, but I have a soft spot for small, tossable cars, so it is relevant and it should come over to the US, though the price of $41,000 (in the UK) is a bit much considering what else is offered in the US for significantly less . 0-60 happens in 5.8 seconds, and a six-speed manual is available too, though there is no indication yet that the seven-speed DSG dual clutch auto will be available. Sales of the S1 will likely start shortly after the car’s official unveiling at the Geneva Auto Show.
