Report: Ford F150 to get new V6 diesel as light-duty diesel wars pick up

Chrysler and General Motors have both confirmed to be introducing their own diesel engines for their light-duty pickup trucks as the compression ignition motors begin to take off–it’s about time. That said, it was only a matter of time until we heard some similar news from the other Big Three automaker in Dearborn.

That said, word is from TheTruthAboutCars that Ford may be introducing their own diesel V6 for the all-new all-aluminum 2015 Ford F150. The engine has been codenamed “Lion,” and will apparently displace 3.0L in the form of a V6. Though specifications were not shared.

A time frame of around 2018 is expected while the addition of a 10-speed automatic will also occur with the diesel.
