Report: Cadillac may recycle the Buick Encore, hints at diesels

In an interview with Edmunds, Cadillac’s Senior Vice President, Robert Ferguson suggested he “would love to have a diesel engine for all of our Cadillacs this decade.” He also suggested that it would “be silly not to” offer a slightly lifted hatchback like the Mercedes GLA. This former item would likely be based on the existing Buick Encore crossover.

For many other marques, this might be seen as a dilution of the brand, but for Cadillac, this is yet another step towards avoiding the pensioner image that has plagued the firm for years and now largely resides with Buick, though that company too is making significant strides to offer fewer octegenarian beige painted cars with oatmeal themed interiors.

Stay tuned for more details on a Cadillac that doesn’t come with a year’s supply of Metamucil.
