Cadillac ELR available for lease at $699/month

Cadillac has just knocked down a barrier to ELR, uh, lesseeship. With some stipulations, the $75,000 plug in hybrid coupe is now available for those with qualified credit for $699 per month. The 32,500-mile lease lasts 39 months after one forks over a $5,000 deposit at the lease signing. The ELR is a snappy, two-door, upmarket version of the $40,000 Chevy Volt.

The advertised 340-mile range is also that of the Chevy Volt, as are the electric motors, the battery and the range extending gasoline engine. According to Cadillac, the car offers HiPer strut suspension, compound crank with Watts link rear suspension and their magnetorhelogical damping control. Does it tick the green box? Yes. Will buyers and lessees flock to it? Only time will tell.
