Report: Ford trademarks “Model E” name, could suggest new entry-level EV

Word through enthusiast site FordAuthority is that the Dearborn automaker has just filed trademark rights for the name, “Model E.” Judging by the name, it could potentially suggest that a new mass-market EV could be on the way.

Consider this: Ford was originally famous for name their models with “Model,” such as the famous Model T, Model A et al. And this could be their way of tapping into their heritage and modernizing it by being some sort of leader in the next move towards electrifying the automobile.

But take these reports with a grain of salt since automakers tend to file trademark rights in the event something pulls through in terms of research and development. Though not all trademarked names make it to the final cut. Either way, this could amount to something…
