Video: BMW explains how the i8’s hybrid system works in brief

BMW released a new video that details how the hybrid function in the i8 hybrid sports in brief with some computer-generated images.

As a refresher, the 2015 BMW i8 can sprint from 0-62 mph in just 4.4 seconds with just a 1.5L TwinPower turbocharged three-banger good for 231hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. Assisting motion is a front-axle mounted electric motor that produces an additional 131hp and 184 lb-ft of torque.

The combined power figure is 362hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. On the flipside of that power is fuel economy that supposedly averages 94 mpg on the US cycle—even with a top speed of 155mph.
