Report: Ford delays 2015 F150 launch amid aluminum supply issues

TheTruthAboutCars has apparently learned that Ford is having supplier issues with their aluminum provider, following confirmations that the next generation Ford F150 pickup will utilize more of the alloy to reduce weight.

After speaking with an “inside source,” aluminum supplied by Alcoa did not meet Ford’s requirement, posing as a setback to the production of the next generation pickup.

The result of the supply problem has forced Ford to delay the launch by around three months. Though the new generation Ford F150 is destined for a 2015 model year release.
