Report: Toyota to surprise the world with a Supra concept at Detroit?

AutoBlog has learned that Toyota could finally be introducing a new Supra concept at the up and coming Detroit Auto Show in January. Rumors have been floating around for quite some time, being bounced back and forth regarding a potential “midsize sports car’ in collaboration with BMW. Though nothing has been officially declared ever since the rumors became a hot topic.

Though after speaking with a few “very well-placed members of the Toyota team,” word is that the Japanese automaker could be gearing up to shock the world with a concept.

We already knew the sports car wars have been heating up, mainly after Honda and Acura have repeatedly showcased an NSX concept, due for production very soon. Now, it finally may be Toyota’s turn to play their cards. That said, this could indicate an increased change for this Supra concept to sport a hybrid powertrain to directly compete. Though nothing has been officially confirmed.

Either way, only time will tell.
