Report: Orders reach 10,000+ for the BMW i3 before sales even begin

Soon after the production versions were just revealed at the LA Auto Show, BMW reports that they already have approximately 10,000 orders for the electric 5-seater hatchback, the BMW i3, which starts at $41,300. This impressive response does not eclipse availability for the marque’s first mass-production EV, which goes on sale in the second quarter of 2014.

Also revealed at LA, the $135,000 i8 plug-in hybrid sports car has sold out for the coming year, though numbers for that car are not available.
