Report: BMW still on track with an i5 geared towards families

BMW is apparently continuing with its plans to expand the i3 model with an i5 geared specifically towards families.

According to AutoCar in the UK, BMW has trademarked the name i1-i8 already, which could suggest that the Munich-based automaker is looking to fill all the market voids with new models from the i-branch.

The supposed i5 will be larger and will offer more room on the inside. And thanks to the modular chassis design of the i3, expanding the platform to accommodate the new proportions is relatively cost efficient.

No word exists on what the i5 could be powered by.
