Report(s): Subaru’s 2015 WRX gets leaked, STI variant due in Detroit

Jalopnik seems to have stumbled upon an information leak surrounding the much-anticipated 2015 Subaru WRX sedan, due for a full reveal at Los Angeles this year.

According to the finding, the base automatic WRX will receive a CVT transmission as the automatic of choice, while a manual will also be made optional. Additionally, the new WRX will utilize a 2.0L turbocharged flat-four while the WRX STI still utilizes a 2.5L.

Speaking of which, in a separate report from Australia’s Motoring.com, the WRX STI will be revealed at Detroit in 2014, after speaking with “company insiders.” The WRX STI as a whole is riding on a new “Axle Forward Layout, which is said to provide improved handling and stability. This comes from an engine that’s closer to the center of gravity for better weight distribution.

Sounds synonymous to Ford marketing their RevoKnuckle front suspension design, except Subaru departing from the front-biased weight setup. Either way, the new WRX is causing quite the buzz. ANd needless to say, we’re excited too.
