Report: Porsche to build a new 911 Speedster based on the 991

Word from Germany’s Autobild has apparently learned Porsche’s in the mix with a new 911 Speedster, which means an open-top variant without an automatic roof. A roof can be put up, but only with manual operation.

The Speedster was built to better accentuate the curves of the 911, more than the automatic folding top version, which requires a slightly different design. And much like the 997-based version from 2011, the new one will include the same manually operated roof.

Not much else is known, but you can most likely expect the current model’s 3.8L flat six in the mix providing power.
