Report: Mercedes to succeed R-Class with a new generation
Germany’s AutoBild reports Mercedes-Benz could be reviving their R-Class crossover/minivan thing for a new generation, despite slow success. It has been supposedly called the “Sport Cruiser” and will essentially be a cross between a wagon and an MPV.
The result has been a rather spacious Mercedes minivan sans sliding doors with seating for seven. It’ll get styling cues from the current CLS, E, and S-Class, a panoramic roof, and rear-zone climate control. Expect an array of Mercedes safety tech as well.
Engines hint to the use of a 2.9L V6 diesel, a 3.0L V6 gasser, and 4.0L V8 gas mill. The platform will be shared with the current E-Class, though it will be enlarged in various proportions.
Expect a sale launch date sometime in the end of 2017.
