Report: Land Rover in the works with an extended wheelbase Range Rover Evoque

Land Rover will apparently have its Range Rover Evoque built with an extended wheelbase. According to a new report from AutoCarUK, the Range Rover Evoque XL will sit between the current Evoque and the Range Rover Sport.

The new model has been codenamed the L560 and is expected to be launched in 2016. It will utilize the same aluminum platform other compact Jaguar models.

The Range Rover Evoque XL is also being touted as the brand’s next most economical model, thanks to the new architecture and a series of new “Hotfire” four-banger engines, currently under development by Jaguar-Land Rover. They will obviously be available in either gasoline or diesel form.
