The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with an automatic officially returns 16/28 city/highway mpg

MotorTrend learned recently that the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has been rated at 16/28 city/highway mpg, through official filings with FuelEconomy.gov.

Quite impressive from a huge and powerful 6.2L V8 good for 455hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. Though these fuel economy figures are also assisted by the LT1 V8’s use of cylinder deactivation, direct injection, and more. The new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray also requires premium gas from the get-go.

Comparatively speaking, the seven-speed manual-equipped Stingray returns a slightly better 17/29 city/highway rating. Though MotorTrend claims, should GM decide to equipe the new Corvette with the brand’s new eight-speed automatic, the fuel economy ratings for the auto-equipped Corvette should increase slightly.
