Report: Toyota suspends progress for the GT86 convertible again

Toyota was recently under the magnifying glass after enthusiasts and automobile journalists alike became excited to the rumor that Toyota could be producing a convertible version of its highly successful GT86 sports coupe. Though, details have been inconsistent as the Japanese automobile giant has been uneasy about giving the greenlight for production.

And to add to the fiasco, UK’s WhatCar? reports that the FT86 Cabriolet is suspended again until further notice. The original FT86 Open Concept was revealed at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. Production was also otherwise slated for 2014 or 2015.

Additionally, the sports coupe was originally designed with other variants in mind, making it more versatile to modification. But interestingly enough, the reasons as to why the project has been delayed yet again weren’t disclosed.
