Report: Mercedes-Benz’s baby SLS to be called AMG GT, internally coded C190
CARandDRIVER recently learned that Mercedes-Benz will be calling their much anticipated, “baby SLS”/Porsche 911 fighter, the AMG GT. Internally, it is designated as the C190. It will apparently be available in both coupe and convertible form.
Alternatively, Mercedes-Benz will be ending production of the current SLS supercar sometime in 2014. No direct successor is reportedly planned. But those seeking to get a little taste of the SLS could certainly opt for this new AMG GT.
Also signifying a major change with the impending death of the SLS is the end of the naturally-aspirated 6.2L V8, which will make way for some supposed new turbocharged motors in the future, all in the name of fuel economy.
