Report: The Alfa Romeo 4C laps the Nurburgring in just 8:04

Italy’s Quattroruote reports that the all-new Alfa Romeo 4C sports car has just lapped the famous Green Hell in just eight minutes and four seconds. This may not seem like much when compared to your tire-smoking McLaren P1, but the 4C laps the Nurburgring in a time faster than the outgoing 2007 model year BMW M3 and the 2008 Porsche Cayman S.

This comes thanks to the Alfa’s low curb weight and potent turbocharged 1.75L four-banger good for 240hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. This results in a 0-62 time of just 4.5 seconds and a top spring of 160 mph.

With the use of carbon fiber, aluminum, specialized Sheet Molding Compound, and injected polyurethane, the new Alfa Romeo 4C weighs just 1,973lbs.
