Report: Mercedes-Benz’s R&D boss confirms S-Class convertible by 2015

Mercedes-Benz has apparently confirmed to be in the works with a drop top S-Class convertible, according to a new report from AutomotiveNews. According to the report, Mercedes’ head of research and development, Thomas Weber, shared some detail with the outlet.

Destined for sale in the US in late 2015, the new S-Class convertible will be the first S-Class with a soft top since the vertical headlight W108 generation S-Class convertible from the 1960s-1970s.

Engine options will of course, carry over from the standard S-Class, including a series of forced-induced V8s and V12s. You can also expect some S63 AMG variants as well.
