Report: General Motors files patent for seven-speed dual-clutch auto for Chevrolet Corvette

Word through the United States Patent and Trademark Office and CorvetteForum.com is that General Motors has filed a new patent for a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic for the all-new Chevrolet Corvette. Previously, reports indicated that the Corvette could get an eight-speed standard automatic.

As of now, the new Chevrolet Corvette comes with the choice of either a six-speed automatic or GM’s new and latest seven-speed manual.

Phasing in a new dual-clutch cog swapper could move the automatic shifting Corvette well into the future, which could also translate to into improved performance.
